the shape of water due to the scene where the fish creature bites the cat's head off. i can get through many gore things in movies but graphic animal deaths and animal abuse is what makes me immediately want to turn it off. like what is the point of including a pet in a movie just to have them die in a gruesome way on screen? i'll never understand

Yes, there was no need for a sequel.
Even if Keanu Reeves returned, I think it would have done terrible in theaters.
Although, surprisingly, Sandra Bullock did return for it.
And it was also directed by the same person who did the original.
