Can you tell me how it went how was recovery, pain, financial burden?

I had 3 wisdom teeth removals and a coronectomy (they remove the crown and leave the roots alone).

I did my first wisdom tooth removal at a dental school. I will never go through that again because the pain and the recovery was horrible. Plus they had to break the tooth and the procedure took an 1 1/2 hours to do.

The 2nd Widsom Tooth and also the Coronectomy (this was for the final wisdom tooth that was removed) was much better. I went to an oral surgeon for the final 3 widsom teeth. The pain wasn’t that bad and recovery was much better.

The 3rd Wisdom Tooth removal…The procedure went well and pain was not that bad. This was sort of bad because I was also dealing with COVID at the same time.

Financially, my insurance covered the widsom tooth removals. I did 1 wisdom tooth removal at a time and my widsom teeth were fully erupted.

expect to spend between approximately $200 to $500 for an impacted "standard" tooth and somewhere between $1,100 and $3,000 per wisdom tooth in the US. That is, if you're not fully insured. Erupted teeth are usually the cheapest to extract. Fully bony teeth are the most expensive to process (tough to deal with as it is completely stuck in the jaw). The average recovery time is 3 to 7 days. Could be up to two weeks if you misbehave! ;)

Anyways I’m scheduled to have 3 of mine removed in January (finally) unless the cost estimate is higher than I’d like. So I can’t say for much of anything because I have yet to go through it. My sister got hers removed recently ish though, I’m not her so I can’t speak to pain or whatnot but she seemed pretty fine with it, I think she said she didn’t even feel the need to take painkillers after day 1 iirc (not sure if she stopped or kept taking them though). She said that her coworkers were telling horror stories so ig they had it worse though.

its really not THAT bad. Unless you smoke like a chimney, drink like a horse or eat taco bell leftovers while the wounds are healing. In which case, you're asking for potential troubles. A good oral hygiene will get you back on track in no time.

$4000 for 4 was what made me look for another place/second opinion But it wasn’t just me, my parents and sister (who all had theirs done) were surprised by the price of mine too. For reference I have 2 that are erupted but by place 1s definition impacted? And one inside the gum and one that’s completely normal. Place 2 said I don’t need the last one out and that the other 2 can be treated as normal, and that the last wouldn’t be bad either difficulty wise. Place 2 isn’t some sketchy rando place either, my dentist originally recommended them and I know multiple people who went there for wisdom teeth. So not some back alley don’t clean their instruments ask sketchy details location. Also day sorry for hijacking your thread

I didn’t know (I had no symptoms at the day of my wt removal) until like 3-4 days later. I had this horrible headache to the point I couldn’t sleep. I binged watch all 3 Rugrats movies on my tv.

its really not THAT bad. Unless you smoke like a chimney, drink like a horse or eat taco bell leftovers while the wounds are healing. In which case, you're asking for potential troubles. A good oral hygiene will get you back on track in no time.

I thought it must be but I didn’t know why horses would drink a lot of alcohol, while horses drinking a lot of water makes perfect sense Im good then though, I drink a lot of water but no alcohol.

surely not after wisdom teeth removal! If not, I would highly suggest you find another Endodontist!

This was in 2005, so I don't really remember much, except that I had a BSB concert the following week and my jaw was still sore by then. But take this with a grain of salt, because I had to have six of them removed and recovery might be shorter for you.
