She was on a hiatus at the time. She had a neck injury that was giving her trouble and experienced some anxiety at the time as well.

So she participated in some of the individual scenes and in recording the songs, but none of the group choreo.

Fans noticed her was missing, they were quick to blame JYP but jeongyeon came out and said she wanted this. But it was a sad, sad time for ONCE. I remember watching their Time to Twice videos (their reality show series where they release a new episode every Friday unless there's a comeback era) and feeling that the video was empty without nine members.

Yeah, her hiatus was first announced in October 2020 and we didn't see her in any promotions until January 2021 for one of Twice's award show performances (she was present in all the music videos). Everyone was shocked by her sudden weight gain (and the good ones were worried) and we didn't see her again until June 2021 for Alcohol-Free promotions. And then she wasn't in any promos for a while until I think their 2021-2022 World Tour in December 2021.

And then she's pretty much been back for 2022-2023. She was in all of the promotions in 2023 though even though she didn't really speak on how she's doing. It seems like she's been doing better on camera though but it was very gradual the past few years.

Yeah, it wasn't. Because the series started in August-Septemberish and it wasn't announced where Jeongyeon actually was until about October (or maybe late September but October seems about right)

It makes me wonder if the same thing will happen for Lia.

Yes, and many other Time To Twice series as well.

A mix of getting procedures to help with the health side of things and resting to get better with the mental side of things.
