Honestly in general with American cupcakes, they’re hard to eat with the frosting. They’re just so sickeningly sweet a lot of times. I do still occasionally eat them but I prefer muffins for that reason

All the time. Bakeries here always put 1:1 ration of frosting and it's just insane. I scrap it off.
The remaining frosting stuck on there is enough.

I prefer muffins for that reason

Muffins are superior. I started cutting them in half and toasting them a whole new experience I wish I knew about earlier.

I was making cupcakes for an event and someone had an egg allergy so we accommodated. Those cupcakes were probably the most delicious vanilla cupcakes I have ever had in my life. 1/4 cup of applesauce is equivalent to one egg
