Being an introvert the way I made friends growing up was if people came up to me first. I probably wouldn't have a lot of them if they didn't

I also cut these people off because they took advantage of my kindness

I relate to this so much. I only had a few genuine friends amongst the fakers

no... in fact, just the other day, I met a nice lady in the Chipotle line, and we chatted for a sec about each other's hair (I liked her updo, and she liked my curls)... but when I asked her if she'd like my number so we could chat, she said "not today, but it was very nice to meet you" like... am I doing something wrong?
