I know what you’re thinking, it’s what most people do really
No, I’m not Muslim even though it is Ramadan currently and I also wear a head wrap for religious purposes and AND I also do not eat pork
I find that I sort of have solidarity with the Muslim community because of the fact that I also wear a head scarf in my practice as well as the fact that I grew up not eating pork.
I still am living with my family and don’t (might as well also say never plan to) eat pork. I’ve grown up to learn that it’s not superficial at all and that suidae are a very unclean family of animals. Any red meat can be a bit heavy on you but pork is another type of icky to me. They’re also “opportunistic” animals or what the laymen call bottom-feeders; that grossed me out the most. The butcher of their meat could have any type of toxins and bacteria in it and yeah that could happen for other animals too but I’ve rarely seen it happen outside of pigs unless you’re talking about mad cow disease which was objectively avoidable if you know how it started. Of course this isn’t to yuck anyone’s personal yum as I know pork is pretty common in East Asian dishes as well as southern parts of America. What do you think of pork yourself?
