So i'm not sure how up to date people are with this cause lot has happened, i thought i could maybe open a bit. Also this thread here https://www.allkpop.com/forum/threads/update-seungri-requested-a-direct-investigation-on-him-explanation-seungri-burning-sun-scandal.274284/page-34 is quite up to date if someone wants to read up there.

Seungri is not currently being investigated for Burning Sun case at all, so let's treat it as seperate thing for a moment and focus on Seungri a bit. What is happening with Seungri is:

  1. SBS posted article that Seungri had been part of prostitution in terms of "providing women to some high-profile clients" (this is how netizenbuzz phrased it). This article included screenshots of Katalk.
  2. YG called it fake and said they will sue and that it will investigated.
  3. Yuri holdings (Seungri's company that oversees other other companies) pretty much said same as YG, and that Seungri will take part of investigation over this.
  4. SBS reporter said the Katalk screenshots were edited from vulgarities, but otherwise not fake.
  5. Seungri voluntarily is taking part of investigation over this now and is also taking a drug test, there was pics just while ago of him going to police station so he's likely being currently interrogated.
  6. Seungri came out from police station after 9 hours, he denied all accusations, got tested for drugs, police said they couldn't get the original screenshots and that he's not currectly a suspect.
+Seungri was tested for drugs when BS scandal started and came clean so it's likely the drug test won't reveal anything new.
+ YG's, Yuri holdings and Seungri's personal lawyers are said to be collaborating on this.

Should have added this, but this has the translation of the messages: Seungri accused of finding prostitutes for rich clients will add another translation if i find one
---

Burning Sun:

Lot has happened with this and it's all bit messy and all over the place, so sorry if i miss sth?

  • Mr.Kim who was first making claims that BS is drugging women and dragging them to be raped as well as assaulted him for trying to help woman is confirmed (by Burning Sun) to be assaulted by club security who was released over this happening before investigation started.
  • Both owners said club will be closed if any of the claims of drugs or women being assaulted was true.
  • Mr. Kim is being accused of sexual harasshment by multiple women (3 or 4 now)
  • Chinese woman who took selfie with Seungri is investigated for distributing drugs (in club?) and police found sth during home search, but she claims it's not drugs.
  • Burning Sun has been searched throughly by police and they took lot of material for investigation.
  • Burning Sun was closing down and taking the club apart, but police stopped this in case of possible evidence being lost. Some claim they were taking club apart to destroy evidence, but it could also be cause hotel the club was in told club to get out and stop ruining their reputation.
  • Policeman (ex-police now) was caught of accepting bride from Burning Sun who let underaged girl in the club (this is serious thing in Korea and could cause lot of legal trouble for club). This happened before the investigations, but came likely in light cause of it.
  • Lee Monho who is one of club owners was tested positive in drug test and is prohibited now for leaving the country.
There is lot more to BS scandal, but this was mostly in top of my head and it's lot already so i recommend checking that lizvips thread for the updates.

I'm sorry but I totally believe all the stuff about the prostitution and Seungri doing that 'happy balloon' drug in Vietnam...

I'm glad that the stories about the women being drugged and raped are probably false at this point but all of the other allegations that have been brought up after that, I believe.

I'm getting chills on how much of a hot mess this whole thing is. This whole nightclub industry is shady anyway. None of this should be surprising in the least but somehow, I'm still shocked at how people can do this to each other (concerning Burning Sun).

As for Seungri's prostitution thing. Sigh. I don't even know what to say to him. If it turns out to be true and he doesn't go to jail, it'll be extremely unjust.

Considering the SBS reporter's high credibility [ she was the one who 1) exposed several celebrities that were involved in the #metoo movement (all cases that turned out to be true), 2) covered Microdot's parent's debts, 3) covered Cho Jae-hyun's sexual assault allegation (also turned out to be true), 4) covered Goo Hara's assault case involving her ex-bf, 5) covered Kang Sung-hoon (Sechskies)'s controversy and many more ] and her confidence in these screenshots being legit... Yeah, things doesn't look all too good.

Either way, it's the job of the police - not VIPs - to find the truth.

Apparently, prostitution is quite commonplace in Korea though, it's still technically against the law but from what I can tell the authorities aren't that invested in intervening unless they have to. I have a feeling that if this does turn out to be true with Seungri then he'll definitely be receiving some form of punishment because they'll want to make an example of him. Still, I doubt that they'll send him to jail or do anything too severe because Big Bang bring in so much money to the Korean economy...

I'll only believe these things if the investigation comes verdict guilty. I want to keep positive mind as well as have faith in him.

Not that i disagree that on things sounding suspicious and kinda bad too ^^; Though I think it's good thing he voluntarily went to be investigated rather than being arrested first.

Yup, i have heard quite ugly things of Korean night club scene before this all. I have heard how some women get dragged from street to clubs since more women in club means more business, then of course you hear about prostitution within kpop idol industry and i recently watched Grace making video about it and spilling some tea how kpop trainees and idols get offered by managers and company heads for "dinner" and "company" in exchange of sponsorship and money.

They would really need to investigate more clubs not just Burning Sun cause I'm sure all kinds of things happen within them..

Right. For example, even popular idols like G.NA sought out sponsorship. I honestly am scared to assume what these "nugu" idols do for money just to push forward with their careers. Also, when Grace talked about how older, previously popular idols go to clubs and dance, that high key shocked me as well. Never do we think about what these older idols are up to, just because they were famous once before, we think "oh they've made their money". The whole industry is just a dark, scary place masked by the glitz and glamour of onstage idols.

And true, clubs do need way more investigation. But, i guess it won't happen because nightclubs make a shit ton of money from under the table deals and prostitution. Not to mention, I'm sure 60% of our politicians and higher ups are linked to these clubs so no way will they let the media do a search.

Sure, but in other hand YG and Yuri holding's adamance that those texts are fake and suing over rumors as well as Seungri voluntarily going to investigation over this does seem to point they have confidence in their case and his innocence as well.

Sorry, but right now, everything speaks heavily against Seungri. Thus, I believe he's indeed guilty.

And ofc YG (can't talk about that Yuri Holdings company) wants to save Seungri's ass at all cost because of BIGBANG and money reasons. Imagine both would admit to Seungri doing sketchy stuff: YG's stock would plummed to death and Seungri would end up getting fined or jail time even. No label wants that.

I don't know if i exactly believe he's innocent, but i don't believe he's guilty either. I'm undecided and will remain so.

Sure they do, but YG also has lot of lose if Seungri comes out guilty and in that case it would have been just best to let Yuri holdings and Seungri's personal lawyers since he apparently has those to deal with it. So i'm more of thinking that likely YG believes he's innocent. Another explanation would be that although they don't believe he's innocent they are confident that there wont' be enough evidence against him or sth like that... but well i'm more on yg believes he's innocent camp.

So many back and forth info about this at this point, I don't even know or want to assume/guess anything anymore. Let's just hope an honest investigation is possible and it reveals the truth.

this whole thing is just messy tbh. but if seungri is guilty then ill lose all my respect for him, big bang is just a problematic group in general. they make good music but they go through so many scandals.
In terms of Big Bang, i guess its' bit relative, i mean worst things so far they have done is smoked marihuana (I don't count Seungri's case here cause i don't know outcome). To me i'm against it and it's disappointing, but not dealbreaker especially when both of them has quit. It's not like people don't like western artist who do same stuff.

They get witchhunted by media a lot since they are popular so even small things are made into scandal and taken out of proportion so many of their scandals aren't actually that bad. There is car accidents, but that could happen to anyone and is just simply tragic, to them too.

So apart from Seungri's case here depending on outcome, i don't think they are even that problematic ^^; Scandals are just really tiring as fan.

Funny story, my co-worker just got back from vietnam and was saying how she tried it. Now all of a sudden I read this.

Quick Edit: Seungri is innocent until proven guilty in my eyes, but I hope people realize that some of the companies behind groups ya'll stan are whoring out the members as well. Maybe not the bigger ones (big 3, cube, etc) - but some of those nugu groups are definitely going through hard times.

I'd say this is an actual scandal. Despite how it's viewed by Korea, weed/drug usage aren't really a big deal in most places. So like TOP/GD's weed thing is w/e. And Daesung's thing is unfortunate to say the least, but also not necessarily his fault. That was a shitty thing all around.

Yeah but just because there are other companies doing it, doesn't make it right or make Seungri any less of a sleaze for using prostitutes to secure his business deals (if this is true).
