I've always seen more yaoi fans, yuri ones are rare. So yeah, ofc the market offers the thing which would make more money.

Yeah, it's like in Kpop, there are a lot more fans for BG's than GG's.
But why do you think there are a lot more fans that prefer male over female?

I have seen a lot more Yuri fans than in the past 10 years though, so the fandom is growing.

It's probably because the majority of kpop is girls and for anime/manga not sure, but girls are more of shippers than boys lol

That's true.
I think it's also because girls think they can't like Yuri as they think Yuri is mainly aimed towards men which couldn't be further than the truth.
I usually hear people say 'Yaoi is for girls and Yuri is for guys'.

I would say to every 10 Yaoi, there are about 2 Yuri (maybe even less) lol which is pretty poor.

Has anyone seen 'A Bride for Rip Van Winkle'? Although sometimes a little slow, it's a pretty good movie and the main actresses are super pretty.
I'm not going to tell you if it's a sad or happy ending or not as I want you to watch it for yourselves ^-^

I realized that when it comes to same-sex Japanese comics and Animation, the general public will only talk about Yaoi and not Yuri and if they do mention Yuri, they say that only guys are interested in it.
Why do you think this is? Is it because Yaoi is much more popular and there is a lot more Yaoi than Yuri out there?
For me, Yaoi is a lot more sexual overall, even if Yuri has a lot less content, there is still a lot less sex and with more stories/character development that comes more with Yuri.

Onto the 'Yuri is only for guys' statement, I believe this to be false and I would say that although guys do like/love Yuri (Yes, for its stories and character developments), there are still a lot more female readers and watchers.
One thing that Yaoi and Yuri do have in common other than the fact they are same-sex, is that both genres are mostly written for and by women.

Okay, so now onto same-sex cinema (mainly in Asia), like Yaoi, there is a lot more demand and much more gay love stories than lesbian love stories.

As you can see, there are so many more gay male dramas and movies than there are gay female.

So, what does this mean, exactly? And why are there overwhelmingly much more gay male content but a lot less lesbian content?
Do you think this a problem that there is a lot more demand for gay male content and it's not more even?

Is this more of a double standard situation or is it because there are more girls overall that are into gay content? And if that is the case, why are there so many straight female fans of the genre even though they can relate much more to wlw/GL?

I would like to know your opinions because quite honestly, I would love some more Yuri stories, as the more Yuri content, the more women can relate to.

Her early stories such as Oniisama E.. from 70s included romantic feelings between female characters. She also made mangas that included "gender bender" as well as trangender character. She did make lot of mangas that were about gender expression and relationship between women.

I think there is nowadays Yuri that is aimed towards men (usually include fanservice, cute often moe girls) and then towards women which focuses more on relationship struggles and usually goes more in depth. But i think the fanservice aspects kinda make whole genre seem like that especially when lot of yuri doesn't get adapted. In other hand while yaoi is popular, it doesn't have good rep, even worse than yuri. It's even more fanservicey and sexual in general, lot of it being well porn. For some reason most stupid shows get adapted to animes further giving awful rep to genre that does have good stories too like Given.

You are right! Yaoi does have a much worse reputation and you are also right about the 'moeness' for guys and the 'relationship struggles and more into depth' thing. Like Girl Friends is a good example.
Oh I know Oniisama E, though I have never watched it. I should do soon lol
