What is better?
Why do you think it is better?
What are the pros and cons of your fav platform?

I think forums are better because it is way easier to connect and find people you have the same interest with... sure you have facebook that can do the same, forums were existing before fb came along so meh, but i think fb is way too big to be able to create a safe and sound environment....with all the fakers, scammers and other fkd up people on there you do not want to get involved with, plus fb is filled with extreme trolls as well
oh hell no but then again so is twitter etc

pros....
being a part of a forum is just so much more cosy and can make you feel part of a real community but then just online
you can customize so much it is unreal, on social media you have your limitations but on forums you can do whatever the fak you want
you can choose to make it look modern, cute, old, neon, dark chaos anything is possible
that goes for the forum layout but also the membres their profiles
i love to the fact you can have an acc with fts like a signature and not just an avatar image
ALSO, it is way more fun to discuss and talk about stuff vs doing that in the comments section on insta lol
forums got threads, pms, profile messages etc

cons?
not sure
maybe that you can be unlucky on some forums with a bad staff system that is crooked in a way
where they do things not fairly yet vs staff teams on big platforms like fb and insta
i assume they got so many rules they have to follow, there is not always time and space to be corrupt
and if you actually misbehave, you get punished right away
without there being like; omg but they friends with the staff so they get a different treatment
or something like that
that happens on some forums for real, where the staff team is just filled with bad people and thus a lot of unfairness happens within the community
real shame when that happens, i can ruin a forum and it's reputation if they not careful

Forums are a dying breed. But I prefer them over social media for much of the same reason you do.

You can definitely get your voice heard by more people in social media but id rather be heard by 10 people who actually care as opposed to 5k who don't care.

I had a lot of negative experiences in forums AND social media.

Twitter and an old forum essentially really fucked up my mental health and I was having a mental/emotional breakdown every week or every other day basically and wound up relapsing once. Not to get too dark but I think there are cons to both for one they both can breed negativity like crazy.

They also are breeding grounds for anxiety if you ask me. But I've found many great friends from being on forums, some that I will stay in contact with for years to come and have stayed in contact for years. On social media, I eliminated Twitter and just focus on fun communities on Tumblr and enjoy looking at people living their best lives on Instagram. Also, enjoy sending funny shit over snapchat to random friends.

Honestly it depends. On social media I guess I have more of my real life, my achievements and stuff, more rl friends... Forums are nice for discussions, opinions. But I like to scroll for memes on social media. Also bcs I have a food Instagram, the foodies community on insta is quite nice and welcoming

what i underlined....that is humanity in general for you though
:junweary: :wimwim: :lisalaugh: :jisoosmh:
whether offline or online

i met so many shitty people in real life and got treated so bad, is the reason why i tried to escape into an online life back when i was a teenager....
but i also had bad experiences online, especially on some forums
even to a point people wished me dead .... why? because i always am quite the honest person and i do not like to sugarcoat things
some people did not like that......... and so :nayeonisdone::taeminface:
like it is so sad people go that far just because they do not like your honesty....

To be fair I did mess up. It wasn't just my honesty that screwed me over, though I am sure I do offend the wrong people with it from time to time. I am a bit of a feisty person. But I grew from my fuck up and some people couldn't see that and things just escalated from there but I can relate to getting death threats.

I vastly prefer forums. I only use social media to follow the artists. Nothing else.

I had an experience with a forum that was populated by mean trolls, even the moderators were trolls. It happened that the forum owner had a strong case of favoritism. They had a nasty habit that they called "biting the noobs". The forum died for good and another much better one replaced it. I think there was another one that was taken over by a bad group of moderators while the admin blindly trusted them. Other than that, I think almost all the forums I have been in have been more or less much better than social media.

sure we all make mistakes, me too
but i am positive i never did anything extremely bad or extremely unfair
i always been , since i was a little girl, a person who goes for equality, honesty, loyalty , kindness and treating someone how you want to be treated

my honesty might have gone down the wrong road for some because they prefer their shit getting sugarcoated, weak people cannot handle the truth sometimes but how does that mean, because people cannot handle the truth, how does it mean i literally deserve death threats?
i mean, it is still wrong but i would GET IT more if i would be absolutely horrible to people online BUT I NEVER WAS
sure i was brutally honest to people that i maybe should of not done it to because they just different and can't take some shit
but i was never maliciously mean to them, i was never out there to actually hurt anyone , never tried to harm, scam, bully etc anyone EVER

all i ever did was share my honest thoughts on subjects and it gotten so bad, people started to dislike me for being an honest person
how ridiculous is that
like where is the respect for each other

i am all open for a healthy discussion where we respect one another and act mature to one another
but the fact people gotten so fkd up to tell me to go .... that is not on me
that just shows how fkd up they are in their mental head
you don't tell someone to go die and stuff , that is just sick and disturbing

I don't have much of a filter if I'm being honest and I know that some of my personal and moral beliefs are not popular ones and that can cause people to treat you differently.

Also just to put it out there-my major fuck up wasn't being super honest it was being ignorant and not thinking a certain action through.

see that is exactly what i mean
that is just so sad when that happens
where even the staff team is fkd up and treating people unfairly
if you own a forum or are staff and you show favoritism, especially as admin, that is so unprofessional in my opinion
as admin especially you should show you are open to anything and willing to go for equality
not give some member warnings for stuff but then when your forum buddy does it, they do not get any warnings at all
that is just  :shamesica:
just an example but yeah
was it a kpop forum? just wondering, don't have to name names

im also shy so i guess there is that but i do try and dont find much so im sticking with forums in the meantime :nayeonisdone:

ok thank you for fak sake lol
see, i mean, you did not say it but your words on discord make me want to say the following;

discord is lovely and has cool features but every fkin discord channel i joined..... like ones who are not connected to a forum etc, i never got to a point where i connected with anyone .... VS for example this place.... WAY MORE PEOPLE AND WAY EASIER

PLUS what i also want to add
I DO NOT GET IT that forums expand to making a discord channel aside from their forums
i mean, i honestly do get the points on why they make them, i see why it could be cute and come in handy BUT
almost every main important aspect you got going on discord is on your expensive forum software website as well and maybe even in a better way than discord does it

why redirect people to a discord channel , so make people go away from your forum that you pay hosting for, software stuff etc
when you got something going on that you should focus on , shouldn't your attention be on your forum only when you create one? doesn't it make more sense to have everything up and going on your forum? your forum could potentionally lose activity due to having up a seperate thing where they can discuss and chat etc
you can talk on your forum to people in private and out in the open, different sections, you can have private sections for staff on your forum ....you can do it all
all that is not possible is voice calls...........

i am not saying forums should never make a discord , neither am i saying they are not allowed to do so..... DON'T GET ME WRONG
do whatever YOU THINK IS BEST FOR YOUR FORUM!!!! fighting!
but i personally don't get it, it is making things very double
having up another platform for your members to talk when originally you made a forum for exactly that :lisalaugh:
and live chat on your own forum is easily achievable and makes more sense to me but oh well

No. It was way before I knew about kpop. It was about conlanging.
Oh, you're into conlanging. I'm not but the sff websites i frequent/ASoIaF forum also mentions conlanging-Klingon and Dothraki are two conlangs i never learned but were mentioned there before. I wonder about the conlanging webspaces you frequent/frequented, never thought they were such a hotbed of highs and lows, Rule 34 or sth ig. (Dont look it up, i generalised from it.)

PS the conlang i had a slight interest in inmy youth was Sindarin or watever language created by Professor Tolkien he wrote about in his work, tried to memorise/digest it but it was too difficult/im too dumb.

I use forums and sns for different things so i dint rlly hv a single choice tat i can say if i only had to choose one, this was it. But forum takes up more time from the extensiveness of it except when its dead air, which happened more before cards game started. So tats my answer.

Completely agree. My IG account is more personal and I know some of my followers in real life since they are family/friends. Forums on the other hand are more topic-centered and it takes some time until you get to know the other members better.
