This is a very decent list of groups/songs. A few things I personally want to point out:

- Everglow at #4 is impressive, and I love it.

- Irene & Seulgi is now perhaps the most iconic sub-unit in K-pop.

- Apink's international recognition (since 'I'm So Sick') has been rising. For a 10-year old group that's still very popular in Korea but now noticed around the world is incredible. As a long time Apink fan, makes me so happy.

- Dreamcatcher making the top 10 is something I'm proud of. They are somewhat overlooked in Korea, but their international support is great. Long may it continue to grow. I hope Korea notices DC's upcoming comeback so they start to get decent recognition nationally too.

It seems now kpop is growing at an explosive rate, at some point kpop will be mainstream worldwide.

If Kpop did become more of a mainstream genre worldwide, so many groups/artists will get great opportunities and find the success they deserve :).

If the current groups that are penetrating the markets does well, something that is unthinkable 10 years ago, i would not doubt that.

- Irene & Seulgi is the sub-unit i think nobody expected rn or i dint realise i wanted but it is the sub-unit the world needs rn to save our souls. Wbk.

I love Everglow.

I think rock the only new music genre became mainstream in a few decades/centuries, some oldsters still hate/dislike it. Not sure if kpop will become mainstream in the future tho. I hope but dont count on it. Maybe variations, like how rock is absorbed into jrock or krock, so kpop is absorbed into western music; but mixed so western/ kpop- just dont see how tho. Nice to dream abt it happening tho.

It can be said that kpop is something that originates from western pop music itself, so if it happens in the future, it would be something positive as that means nothing is impossible in this life.

Everglow streaming numbers are really good although their fandom is still relatively pretty small, I guess a lot of casual listeners :pepeheart:

I believe theres a lot(for a certain meaning of a lot) of everglow ifans out there, based on reddit n the audience numbers of their 1st US tour earlier this yr(cut short by covid-19)/still small venues tho; im not sure of their digital/physical numbers but i believe their yt views/spotify streams shd be high numbers as well. Quite impressive for 1 yr old rookie group(tho iv read elseweb abt them being privileged with yuehua/china money, not how sure tho.) Just know i love them n their songs/members.

Yuehua is notorious for using lot of ads so their views are very inflated but still pretty good compared to other rookies.
I actually don’t think the tour was that successful? Atleast I know for a fact they were having trouble selling out but they did manage a tour with small venues which is good. Their fandom and physicals are also pretty decent for a rookie group, it’s just that looking at their YT numbers you’d expect them to do huge physicals but it’s decent.

That being said, their title tracks are catchy af and I’ve seen a lot of non Forevers listen to them so that’s good.

Hv u watched/seen/know abt the multi-phone/device video where they stream a song on X no. of phones/devices in a room(not sure i describe it right)? I think i saw/knew abt it b4 i got heavily into kpop (2018); so i {till now subconciously, but now more consciously -except when i forget to remember it} dont put much faith in streams/views unless its UL on Melon or Gaon(which im not sure is or is not susceptible to manipulation tat way).

I was prejudiced (by my liking EG) to think tat all the activity on everglow sub-reddit n youtube fancams of their US concerts during US tour was proof of, at least, not all were faked/inflated views/streams. I realise their venues werent huge (not 10,000 maybe few hundreds or so each city), but i compare their actual fan base to nugu US music acts who might hv only dozens of fans in a few cities in US, for a 1 yr old foreign language music act its very encouraging: not U2 level but its building up fanbase-Covid-19 changes everything ofc. This is all just imo.

Otoh, tat non-forevers listen to EG songs n find them catchy is great(to me). :bigcatclap: :lovelycooky:
