Kiss people you know well on the lips when you greet them?
Like in a friendly way
Because someone called me weird for doing that with my best friend,
said I shouldn't be kissing friends who are the opposite gender

No, it's not normal but if you are both fine with it - why care?

Just be mindful about being on the same page as your friend. In my experience when 2 people do couple-like things under the guise of being "just friends" at least one of them is hoping it'll lead to something more.

Where I am, that would be very atypical to do with anyone who wasn't a family member or romantic partner, but I know cultures vary.

And regardless, people can mind their own business for "weird" things that don't hurt anyone.

It’s a very cultural thing usually. I’ve never seen it on the lips but I’ve been around people who grew up giving a kiss on the cheek as part of their culture. For me that would be a weird thing to do, the only ones who get any kisses from me are my partner and forehead ones for my pets. But that doesn’t mean that cheek kisses are abnormal in some places in Europe. So it’s hard for us to really say without knowing where you live and what cultures you’re exposed to.

First and foremost it's a private thing between you and your best friend. If your best friend is ok with it, why not? But you shouldn't do it in public if you want to avoid gossip.

I've known him since I was 5; it's how we have always greeted each other. I just was nervous bcs I dont want other people to think we are a couple

Unless there's a law that doesn't allow it, it's your and your best friend's choice. If you kiss in public, expect that people think you are a couple.
But I would stop doing it if you have a partner (or your best friend is in a relationship). Otherwise kissing your best friend could cause a K-Drama.
