I don't believe it's been said directly from Taemin nor his creative directors, but I wouldn't be surprised since he also dances in front of the Gates of Hell among other symbolism found in the video and the song.

Snakes are also a sign relating to temptation in regards to the story of Adam and Eve (and while Taemin being religious may not have formed this idea behind the imagery, I'm sure it didn't hurt his portrayal of the temptations), and he is surrounded by them at one point.

The fact that he was sitting on a throne of sorts, looking through magnifying glasses at the viewer, and rising from what appeared to be a grave, was surrounded by snakes, and dancing in front of Hell's gates could all very well point towards this symbolism you mentioned, of his red ensemble!

The lyrics are also a give-away:

and
