FIVE!?!? i got it from my grandpa and we're the only two with it, i discovered when i was really young like baby young i had my dad to support me, but he's like not-rlly-intolerant-but-gluten-hurts-my-stomach so we were on the same team y'know?? but he found those pills... like the one you use to make lactose intolerance go away and he betrayed me what's your gluten story
Found out in my early 20s. So I'm fairly new to it. Nobody I'm super closely related to had it so we didn't think anything of it for me. But I suddenly lost a lot of weight without trying (after I had stopped my intentional weight loss) & then I started burping to the point I could not breathe. That's how we found out something was wrong.
wow not the best way to find out :( i've heard the weight loss thing is very common in celiac cases and i admit that must be a little scary when you don't know why! i've lived all my life with it and i still feel like there's things that exist that i never knew off! when i went to the states, they had lucky charms gluten free and it was my first time eating somes because there's just none of that here... another one is doritos that took us such a long time to find out they were gluten-free! it's also annoying bc it's in the most random things like shampoo and yogurt
I was shocked when I found out I couldn't eat Twizzlers.
I think it's better to have it your whole life than to get it later on-because I knew what so many glutinous things tasted like and now I miss a lot of things.
i've always wanted to eat twizzlers let's wait together, my sister, until we get gluten-free twizzlers! it definitely is an advantage to know young though i felt like sometimes ppl were avoiding inviting me to their bday parties 'cause food arrangements were too complicated haha the other problem is that all the good things get taken off the shelves one day 🥱 all the good stuff stops producing 'cause they don't make enough money or smth...
the worst is that i did my research and those diets don't even work one bit, ppl only get skinny bc they stop eating all the processed food it was a blessing for the short times we had gluten free cinnamon buns at walmart
The one bad thing about mine is that I'm asymptomatic for the most part. So it's hard for me to know if I've ingested anything. I go off my BF's best friend who has severe reactions to gluten, to pick out safe places to eat.
