of course I don't mean to gatekeep how a person chooses to listen to their fav kpop artists I just wanted to understand your perspective my friend

I cannot like a group sololy on the music itself...
I can like the music even adore it but that would not make me a fan of the group - it would make me a fan of the group's music which is separate since the group is the members and thus there has to be something about the members that get my attention for me to fav them - usually it's the personality and the group cohesion or chemistry (at least what we see of them on camera)

Oh well I have only watch Variety shows back we i first joined kpop, the people i already stanned is because of content but NOW i do it based on music and ig someone showed me something funny about that group it would be the final straw
Lately i haven't even stanned a group lol

it might not even be a fully fledged variety show
it could something that captures my interest and then I go dig deeper

for example the last of my fav groups is LSFM - I already knew two / three of the members from pd48 and izone and the garam situation was really interesting since it was the hot topic at that time and I just waited till they had more music and more content then they became one of my favs lol

I also don't consider myself to be a "stan" of any group I don't think I'm that much of a fan since I consider myself to be a not a very good fan - I've yet to spend a single cent on my favs I don't stream their content and I never outwardly praise nor defend my favs from attacks (I also don't attack others lol) so I merely consider myself a fan

fun fact the word stan comes from eminem's song - Stan which also happens to be my fav western song and I would consider Eminem to be an actual artist I stan...

I've actually spend money by going to his concert
