for those who dont know what the staar test is: staar stands for state of texas assessments of academic readiness, and its pointless 4 hour test that you first take in 3rd grade for the subjects english, math, science, and history. the problem with the staar is that it has things that you dont cover in the classes and stresses tf out of students and most usually fail it.

Oooh that's like our NAPLAN. We have it more often though in grades 3, 5, 7 and 9. It's supposed to test the students' academic levels in literacy and numeracy and it includes stuff that we may not have learnt about either but stuff that we should have learnt about by that year level. The purpose of it is basically so the school and government knows which areas they (the school) are lacking in and where they need to provide more support. They always make a big deal out of it but I have never seen the grades affect students in any way lol. Like we sit the test and then it's never mentioned again until the next time we have to take it.
