A friend, who is a K-pop insider and a former K-pop trainee, told me that there is this new trend among K-pop companies with pushing female idols into high-carb diets and strenuous squat exercises to build up quote-unquote fat asses. Me and my friend have really drawn-out arguments over whether this is a form of cultural appropriation-- her that it is not, me saying it is indeed a form of cultural appropriation. In either case, why are we putting our girls in danger of high cholesterol and subsequent cardiovascular diseases with these methods?
