so here’s the full story: some of the members of highlight (formerly beast i believe) lee gikwang, yong junhyung and yoon doojoon: and BTOB members eunkwang and sungjae, plus jang jyunseung and singer chu ga yeoul were apparently getting preferential treatment in dongshin university. highlight members

“may have also received a type of class attendance leniency that is only usually reserved for students working in civil service.”

meaning they weren’t being marked for missing classes. the korean ministry of education responded by canceling their degrees.

but singer chu ga yeol got the worst end of the stick:

“In particular, despite regulation, singer Chu Ga Yeoul acted as an adjunct professor for the Department of Applied Music despite not having a bachelor’s degree while simultaneously attending the Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment as a student. It was confirmed that he could not attend class since the time he was supposed to attend lecture as a student overlapped with the time he acted as an adjunct professor. For Chu Ga Yeoul, his degree will be canceled, and his position as an adjunct professor will become nullified.”

That sucks :/ It's already hard for idols to simultaneously work and attend school, and now it's going to be even harder. Many idols barely have an education due to training, what do you want them to do, Korea??
:pepecry1::pepecry1:

I get it can be considered preferential treatment but it must be really difficult for them.
