Xin Yue has been a link between the Divination Commission and Xianzhou Yuque's Arbiter-General for 250 years. As a native of Xianzhou, she arranged meetings, created and reviewed battle strategies, and reported those strategies to the Seer Strategist Yaoguang while fulfilling her role in the Divination Commission. The residents of the Yuque gave her the title of Seer's Eyes. They believed she was General Yaoguang's second pair of eyes while on duty.

Occasionally, Xin Yue joined on missions that required her guidance. Those missions ranged from a few days to a few months, with the latter being rare. Her final assignment on the Yuque lasted 2 1/2 months with limited communication. Not long after the last mission, a cycrane arrived with a letter. It was a job offer to work for the Divination Commission back on the Xianzhou Luofu. Job offers from one of the Xianzhou flagships don't come often.

Xin Yue informed her higher-ups, including General Yaoguang, regarding the job offer. With their help and consideration, Xin Yue accepted the job offer. The Yuque's loss was a gain for the Luofu. She's returning home to where it started.

"It's astonishing how quickly 250 years have flown by," she observed.

The Xianzhou native arrived on the Luofu on a worker ship at night. Xin Yue walked into the inn with bags in hand. Right before her arrival, she received a text message from Fu Xuan, the leader of the Divination Commission. It was a reminder that her job at the Divination Commission starts at 8 a.m. tomorrow. She placed her bags on the ground and saw the innkeeper behind the desk.

The innkeeper greeted, "Welcome! Do you need a room?"

"Thank you, and yes, I need a room to stay in, please," replied Xin Yue.

The innkeeper smiled and turned her back to where the keys were. She handed a key to the woman at the front.

The innkeeper said, "Your room is on the 3rd floor."

"How much does it cost to stay in a room per night?" questioned the Xianzhou native.

She kindly informed her customer, "It will be 10,000 credits per night."

"That's perfect, and thank you," responded the woman.

Xin Yue took the key and picked up her bags. She walked upstairs to the third floor. After a long day of traveling, a hot bath and sleep should do the trick. The woman opened the door to her room and locked it from behind. She placed her bags on her bed and the keys on the nightstand. Xin Yue pulled out her phone from her purse. Her dark brown eyes saw the missed video call notification. She groaned to herself as she realized who was calling her.

She muttered, "Of course, it had to be a video call."

Even after 250 years apart, Xin Yue kept in contact with the Luofu’s Arbiter-General, Jing Yuan. It was the least she could do while she was in the Yuque for more than a century. The last time they spoke was after returning home from that mission. It was nothing but casual talk, with some bantering on Jing Yuan's part.

"I'll take the video call since I'm already here," she said, clicking on Jing Yuan's name.

A man with long white hair and golden eyes appeared. She smiled softly at the sight of her good friend.

"I was expecting your call, Yue," he said with a confident grin.

"Yuan, I had to reply, and you know it," pointed out Xin Yue.

A feeling of nostalgia enveloped the two friends as they called each other by their childhood nicknames, coined centuries ago. Jing Yuan was a Cloud Knight in training. Xin Yue aspired to become a diviner and worked for the Divination Commission as an intern. As adults, their paths have crossed multiple times on the battlefield - one fighting on the frontline and the other strategizing with the diviners from the rear.

"The Master Diviner caught me up to speed regarding your new job post at the Divination Commission," he pointed out, breaking the brief silence.

There it is. Xin Yue knew Jing Yuan had to bring up the new job on their video call. He’s the person who’ll discover the truth, no matter what. That is how he knew about the job position at the Divination Commission. She had no choice but to talk about the job she accepted.

Xin Yue asked, "Did the Master Diviner say regarding my return to the Divination Commission?"

"She didn't reveal her thoughts about your return to the Luofu, bu-" explained Jing Yuan.

She interrupted and said, "There's something important you need to tell me about the job."

"You have a sharp mind, Yue," he praised the woman on the other end of the line, "The Master Diviner suggested that I should be the one to inform you about this additional task."

A new task that wasn't on the original job offer letter? In a matter of seconds, Xin Yue's confident expression turned into one filled with confusion. She was uncertain about how to respond to Jing Yuan's statement. The Master Diviner would've mentioned the change unless.

"Did you add this task?" she asked.

"The Master Diviner and I agreed that this task requires an experienced diviner like yourself. From time to time, you will be formulating battle strategies for the Cloud Knights under my supervision," Jing Yuan explained.

Working for both the Divination Commission and being the Arbiter-General's lead strategist was not what Xin Yue expected. She didn't want to question the additional task. At the same time, there was something off. The Divination Commission wouldn't hire an experienced diviner to work as a military strategist out of the blue. It could've been handled by the Master Diviner herself, but that wasn't the case. At the same time, Xin Yue won't question Jing Yuan's decision.

Jing Yuan thought about the joint decision he and Fu Xuan made regarding the lead strategist job. It wasn't a job that any ordinary Divination Commission worker could do. He needed someone who had experience working in the military. Despite not being a Cloud Knight, Xin Yue worked alongside the Arbiter-General of the Yuque for 25 decades. Jing Yuan believed that Xin Yue's talents as a strategist were valuable for the Lufou.

She said, "I see."

Jing Yuan remarked, "That's an intriguing way to respond to the job."

"If both the Master Diviner and you have that kind of trust in me, I won't question it," responded Xin Yue.

He replied, "That's good to know."

An awkward silence formed once again. Xin Yue didn’t know if the job talk was over. To her, it was nice to see and talk to Jing Yuan. During her time in the Yuque, the evening video calls and texts to one another made Xin Yue feel at ease.

"Can I tell you something?" asked Xin Yue.

Jing Yuan replied, "Say what you need to say, Yue."

"Thank you for keeping in touch with me during my time in the Yuque all these years, Yuan," she expressed gratitude.

He said, "I'm glad you enjoyed my video calls and texts. Also, I want to ask you something."

"What is it Jing Yuan?" asked Xin Yue.

Jing Yuan asked, "Would you like to join me on my day off when that day comes?"

Of course, the arbiter-general of the Luofu wanted to meet up. It has been a while since they last saw each other face-to-face. During the 250 years in Yuque, she met Jing Yuan whenever the generals were together in the same room. In most cases, their interactions were brief and professional.

"Of course. We can play Xianzhou Chess like good old days," commented Xin Yue.

Jing Yuan chuckled and said, "There is a lot we need to catch up on."

She replied, "Let me know when we will be doing that. Also, it's getting late."

He commented, "I understand. I hope you have a great sleep tonight, Yue."

"Good night, Yuan," she replied.

Jing Yuan mentioned, "Before I hang up, I need to tell you one more thing."

Xin Yue asked, "What is it?"

"Welcome home, my dear friend," he said with a smile, his eyes brightening up with happiness.
