From what I can tell, leader Suu Kyi's party NLD just won the democratic elections with an overwhelming majority of 83%, however the army alleges there was election fraud after the military backed Union Solidarity and Development Party won just 33 out of 476 votes and now they have detained her and declared a state of emergency effective for one year.

In the meantime, the top army commander has now taken charge.

Communications in all major cities are being cut down- phonelines and internet is down in most places and might go out anytime in the remaining regions.

We'll see what unfolds and how international parties respond.
