At Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, the newest attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has opened - prepare to wait if you want to ride it.
The $300 million roller coaster, "Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure," takes riders on a nearly 3-minute ride through the magical grounds surrounding Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where the majority of the books and movies take place, and the Forbidden Forest. It's a nearly mile-long trail of rides through trees planted by the park with many different creatures along the twists and turns. Riders can choose to man the bike itself or ride in the sidecar, akin to Harry Potter's ride next to Hagrid in the movie and book.
After only an hour of debuting the ride, the lines had soared to over a 600 minute wait time - nearly 10 hours. Fans of the Wizarding World and the Potterverse waited in blistering heat and humidity, and even a lightning storm that shut the ride down out of safety concerns for a short time in the late afternoon.
