The first ever Pokémon Center in Europe is opening in Shepherd’s Bush later this year and it’s going to have tons of exclusive merchandise.
The new Pokémon games Sword and Shield are out this Christmas and like every new entry they’re inspired by a different real-world country, and in this case it’s the turn of the UK. If you’re a British Pokémon fan though that’s not the half of it, as the Westfield London shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush is getting the first ever Pokémon Center in Europe. Pokémon Centers started in Japan, with much of their merchandise being unique to the stores.
There are currently 12 centres in Japan, but only four in the U.S. (which are actually just glorified vending machines), and one in Singapore.
The inside of the main Tokyo store – the London one seems a bit… pokier
Unfortunately though the London one is only a pop-up Center and that means it’s only going to be open from 18 October to 15 November, which is weirdly the day of Pokémon Sword/Shield’s release. This is apparently subject to change but even if it’s extended a bit it doesn’t seem like there’s any plan to make it permanent. But who knows if it’s super popular.
