THE FIRST VERSES
I really liked the seductive whisper-esque singing in the beginning. Soyoen and Soojin pull it off effortlessly. It picks up at the right time and in the right way with Yuqi and Minnie. All parts and their tone go perfectly with the lyrics and scenes being expressed. I really didn't like Shuhua's wo-eoeowo, here or in any part of the song. The beat and tempo should have picked up here instead of fading to build up to the chorus. Just in general I think a song like this didn't need more non-verbal sounds like Hann.
THE CHORUS
Overall I liked the chorus and think it was one of the best parts of the song. I just think the beat, instruments and tempo should have switched and gotten heavier for the second time around and the third chorus should have switched up the structure.
THE SECOND VERSES
To be honest it was this point in the song when Senorita began to lose me. Soojin and Shuhua's lines really do a bad job at picking up from the chorus, mixing with Sooyeon's energy in the rap and building up for the chorus. When Minnie comes in after the wo-eoeowo it was a awkward transition. The best part is Sooyeon but the cameo nature of her verse and Shuhua's part lessens the impact. Her rap should have been longer.
THE ENDING
Yuqi's fufu line was underwhelming and simply a strange and abrupt way to end. I was expecting more but was shocked when I saw the video concluding.
OVERALL
G-idle continues to impress me with their non-mainstream and atypical girl crush sound. Sooyeon took what could have been a generic girl crush Latin pop song and switched it up a bit. But my main problem is that the song is underwhelming in terms of structure and beat/tempo. The slow build and non-verbal sounds was perfectly fine for the initial part but having it continue throughout Senorita for me made the song anti-climatic. Thus Sooyeon's rap and the chorus felt out of place. Yuqi's fufu part should have been used as a pre-chorus instead of Shuhua's part or even in a breakdown/build up in a pre-chorus build to the third chorus sorta of like CL's Nanana Nonono in a song like Iam the Best. Sometimes a more traditional heavy instrumental girl crush sound is needed, especially to pull off a song like Senorita. Also give Shuhua more lines Cube!
