I guess what I mean is that should idols be prioritizing vocals or rapping before they prioritize being an amazing dancer? I mean you say you're a singer and you make songs so shouldn't you be able to at least hold a note? if you want to hold up a mic and perform live then I expect at least that much of you.

I've seen so many people say that "well kpop isn't just about singing!" and sure that's true but when we get down to it... they're supposed to be singers. no one asks them on variety shows "why did you want to become an idol" I've noticed they ask them "why did you want to become a singer?" so why can they not hold a note despite being trained for so many years if they're supposed to be singers? I'm not asking for them to be the next Whitney Houston but give me SOMETHING.

Idk plenty of idols mention dancing as inspiring them to be idols
so then join a dance crew?
a lot of idols mention that dancing is the reason why they're an idol, sure, but they should be able to hold a note if they want to be in a profession which requires you to make music... aka being able to sing or rap.

A group full of weak dancers can be compensated by lax choreo and crowd interaction

A group full of weak singers could sing the most basic and easy songs but it's not gonna get them far

I honestly don't know many dancers who can't sing or rap at least a tiny bit except some rookies and they have time to learn. If anything I'd say it's not dancers that struggle with that but visuals sometimes.

true but then people say "well they make up for it in dancing" to visuals who cant sing as well.
i just find it weird that dancing is the priority now a days when it really shouldn't be :welp:

Idols are known for being weak rappers in Korea and not as good vocalists, what they have that other Korean artists don't is visuals and dancing usually.

They should all receive a basic training at least, good dancer or not. The sub-vocalists can sing easy lines. But at least a main dancer or a good lead dancer still contributes one way or another to the group.

I don’t care much about the dancing part of Kpop. That’s why I am looking for groups with good vocalists or good rappers ( both is even better).

Everyone has their role, not everyone in a group needs to know those 2. Dance is quite important mostly cause having people that understand dance makes it easier for the entire group to learn the choreo and master it. The others that have the task of singing and rapping are the ones that should focus on that. Visuals... are a pretty useless group of people tho, in a way. It's literally a role made for Koreans...

this tbh!!

I understand that hard choreos look cool but im perfectly okay with cutting the difficultly of some of these choreos if it means they spend more time with a vocal coach...

I understand that everyone has a role in the group but it just surprises me when some of these idols say they've trained for years and still are struggling to sing. as I get it, its the companies fault as well for not supplying these idols with vocal coaches but sometimes it gets to the point where you have to take matters into your own hands. search up videos online, idk do something. you don't have to be Whitney Houston but if you want to go into a profession where you have to be able to sing/rap then you should be able to hold a note or at least improve once you debut.

Singing and rapping should be prioritised as skills at least so they are passable since you will have to do one or the other but dancing is something you might not have to do depending on the style of performance which if the performances are dance focused like Gfriends then you might need to focus on the dance aspect.

I personally think every skill should be trained. An idol makes up a lot of things and not just one after all.
