So I got to thinking-my boyfriend and I are both hand carving gifts for family members this year and it made me think back to some of the more meaningful gifts I've been given in my life and now I'm curious about you guys and your stories.

So what is a gift you've been given whether it was for a Holiday, a Birthday, or just a spontaneous gift-and what made it so meaningful for you?

Basically every Christmas my family would mainly get gifts that my grandma bought since she is the resident gift giver out of my grandparents. One year though my mom and I both got gifts that my grandma said were special because they weren't from her. When we opened them we both had our own little hand-carved Santa figurine. Turns out my grandpa had gotten into wood carving or widdling and made us both a beautiful little gift.

To this day I still think it is one of the most meaningful gifts I've ever been given and usually when people ask about my favorite gifts that one is the first one to pop up.

Not sure i could pick the most meaningful. there are so many.

The clock that used to be in my grandparent living room or the chair and desk from the others.
the hand held video game my dad looked for in every city and state in his area for one Christmas(he got it in a city ~ 800 miles away).
The hand made gifts (blankets afghan's) cards/ pictures / posters/ banners that are still around the house (well the banner is rolled up )
and so one.
And plenty of things like say almost every picture hanging in my house was a gift.

i guess the single biggest gift is the unchanging love showered on me my whole life.

I love the sappiness of it all <3 Glad you have so many it's good to have so much to be grateful for!

Most meaningful......

I don't know what you may think; but I consider the most meaningful, a pair of Korean chopsticks. You know, I was a little interested on the Korean culture, and I asked that as a gift. I got them, and used them any time I can. I still do. Now, my interest is more for the Japanese culture; but I still love my Korean chopsticks.

Oh doesn't matter what I think in this context-if it's meaningful to you it's meaningful and there is nothing wrong with that-that being said this is sweet. It's always great when someone takes notice of your interests and incorporates it into a gift.

back in 5th grade, my (then) best friend visited turkey over the summer and she got me this beautiful, personalized bead bracelet to match hers. it wasn't super fancy or anything, obviously within her pocket money budget heheh but i wore it every single day. unfortunately we grew apart after high school and i havent spoken to her since, but ive been contemplating if i should dm her on twitter ^^"

I used to have a cat that was like my best friend, we did everything together and I had to rehome him because of life situations and I still miss him a lot so my mom got me a personalized stuffed animal that looks like him. It didn’t turn out to look like him to be honest but it was the thought that counted, I cried when I got it because I was so happy to have it.
