Normally I'd disagree with this (I really liked Soojin) but she did taunt her alleged victim saying she'd leave the group if it was true. And then that victim admitted/accused her of bullying. What can you do

Soojin should have never said that. She backed herself into a corner and gave Cube the excuse. Also I'm sure Cube went to court over this, so its probably a mixture of it is true and Cube just doesn't want to be bothered with a ongoing lawsuit.

I can't disagree with the fact that they kicked her as while the accusations that stuck weren't bad however Soojin really dug her own grave with the posts she made against Shinae.

If they were going to kick her though I'd have either done it a short while after the controversy or give it a comeback as (G)I-dles fandom is more so International I believe and see if the damage is substantial where as now if (G)I-dle do comeback within the next couple of months all people will be thinking about is Soojin leaving.

I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand this is one of the reasons you treat people respectfully (besides it being the right thing to do). When what you did comes back to bite, how sorry can people be? But also this was so long ago, nothings has been confirmed and the attention was off Soojin for so long. Also I can't remember anyone else being kicked out for bullying as a minor.

On Gidle as a group, they are going to be weaker without Soojin in the picture in terms of stage presence and dance ability. She brought that classic sexy sassy girl crush persona to the group and really helped sell their girl crush aura. I think Soyeon and Minnie are going to have to pick up a lot. Shuhua is going to have to improve tremendously.

I think the first response should have been to have Soojin meet privately with the accuser/victim, talk it over and privately apologize. Then apologize publicly and go on hiatus. Putting Soojin alone out there and making it a she said, he said situation was horrible, especially Cube putting their money and their reputation on the line by suing the accuser/victim.

Definitely one of the worst ways to handle a controversy that I've seen in Kpop as a simple apology to Seo Shinae for Soojin being childishly jealous of her as a kid and Soojin would probably still be good in peoples eyes

This also brings to mind Itzy's Lia situation where the accuser is still adamant that bullying happened while JYP is taking a strong stand that it didn't. Idk how that's gonna pan out, usually JYPE is quick to drop idols if it seems like their scandals will hurt the group reputation and they even had Hyunjin go on hiatus but he's rejoining Stray Kids.

So seeing them go ride or die for Lia is interesting, meanwhile their lawsuit against the accuser was also rejected by the police so let's see.

There hasn't been a single group in Cube's history which hasn't suffered from some management blunder, therefore I'd urge even stans of existing Cube groups- old and new, just because nothing's happened yet, don't count on it. Cube will find some way to fuck things up.

cube shouldn't have dropped this right as cb rumours are popping up all over the place but I honestly do not have as much sympathy for soojin compared to other alleged bullies of kpop because of her responses when it was going down, which showed a tremendous lack of growth
I personally would not have cared that much had she just apologized or try to meet up to sit down and have a talk, but her attitude throughout the scandal were what turned me off

Honestly, this entire thing just seems so silly. I'm not going to lie from what I understood of it all it seemed like it was petty drama or a misunderstanding that broke up two friends...when they were immature hormonal children...and as a result one of them if not both wound up hurt.

That isn't a reason for someone's career to be uprooted and destroyed YEARS later...maybe I missed something but this seems pathetic.

Well if I had to summarise the controversy then Soojin had gotten accused of bullying which initially was just Knetizens and she won against those however there was rumours of Seo Shinae a Korean actress being bullied by Soojin.

This is where the problem arose as Seo Shinae made indirect posts in response to Soojin saying she had never spoken to her and even going so far to call her out to make a statement which Seo Shinae ended up doing and Cube and Soojin never responded.

It was less about the accusations themselves as it was basically petty remarks like her being as has been or ugly and more about how Soojin ended up proving that she's still the same character that she was when she was making those remarks about Seo Shinae.
