has anyone ever had to go to a place they hated and stay there for a while?

Spoiler: reason why i am asking

i have to go to a place where expressing yourself is wrong/not okay. it is extremely hard to make it in this place and the only way i make it is through my music. i don't know how i have made it as long as i did. where i go has lead to many thoughts such as running away and committing toaster bath (i don't want to say the word for any trigger warning violations). i'm only making this thread bc i want to create a safe space for myself and other to express how they feel. i hope this post doesn't offend anyone and if it does i am truly sorry
