So I’m at my Grandma’s (with mum and sister) and my Gran mentioned Christmas Day. We’ve gone to her house every year whilst I’ve been alive, and due to covid my household were the only ones to visit her house. Even before then other more local members of my family started to ditch her, so without us she’s pretty much on her own.

Cut to a little while ago, when she asked ‘oh are you coming for Christmas dinner like normal?’, I just immediately said yeah without a second thought. Then Gran goes into the kitchen, and I was met with glares from the others. I was completely unaware that our usual plans would be different than normal, I don’t know why they would be. I’ve not yet discussed it with the others what is actually happening, but whatever it is I’ll sure as hell be fighting to make sure it doesn’t happen.

Exactly. We usually get to her’s at about half 11, then her and mum finish up the dinner she’s started. I know other’s have other families due to kids, which I get, but they barely turn up to Gran’s anymore. We then have a bit of food before leaving at 6pm. If my household are thinking about ditching then I’ll have no problem in ditching them back. Gran’s 87 and can’t do most things now, and my family are always bitching about each other anyway (even before covid) so it looks like it’s down to me to make sure Gran isn’t on her own at all.
