mhm that really is worrying. I really do think a police report would be best suited for the situation before it boils over or escalates into something worse. please stay safe and try avoiding him or maybe try laying off on getting people to come over for a while ? see if that changes anything or anything else happensI just moved here. Been here for a couple months. My neighbors have all been really nice, until recently. The next door neighbor is a guy who lives with his mother. When I first moved here, he was pretty welcoming and nice... Well not anymore. The first incident was a couple weeks ago. Some family was here and we were just having a good time. There were a lot of leaves in the yard so we were using leaf blowers to move them. The neighbor looks over the fence and starts berating us because he felt like we were trying to blow leaves in his yard on purpose (we weren't, obviously respect other neighbors enough to not do that). It wasn't until my dad heard what was going on and came outside, and this guy suddenly went mute. Basically he was afraid of my father, apologized for everything, and said it was his fault for being so angry. He really changed up quick. He blamed it on being high... Lol okay.
Now fast forward to this morning. I have guests over again and he notices this. He comes outside, angry again... He suddenly has a problem with the guests and starts asking who they are and how he doesn't like random people in the neighborhood. No one was bothering him at all. I don't understand why he will not mind his own business. He has had plenty of family/friends over and it was never a problem with me, because that is his place. I don't care. Anyways, he starts making threats and says all he needs to do is call his people to take care of us. Now I feel scared because what is going to happen when I'm alone? Sorry if this seems like a lot, but I just wanted to vent. I am thinking of making a police report, just to have something on file in case the situation escalates further. Part of me also wonders if I need my own protection just in case. It makes me feel really sad and scared that I even have to put up with this guy. This morning he seemed unhinged, and who knows what he is capable of doing.
:(
Before I finished the first paragraph, I was going to say this. After the second paragraph, I'm doubling down on it. He went from annoying to threatening -- giving a legitimate threat. Unfortunately, when it comes to neighbor disputes in general, police can't really do much of anything. (One of those "something has to happen before we can do anything" type deals, you know?) But, as he made a legitimate threat in the presence of others, that's definitely grounds for filing a police report.I am thinking of making a police report, just to have something on file in case the situation escalates further.
I would, but do what makes you feel comfortable. At the same time, move in silence. Don't invite trouble, but be prepared for it all the same.Part of me also wonders if I need my own protection just in case.
Yeah exactly my point. He has no business acting like he owns the neighborhood. He has people over all the time, way more than I do. It hasn't bothered me. It sucks that I even have to buy stuff to protect myself, but better safe than sorry.but like who the fuck does he think he is talking to your family like that. its your house and your family and your business, if you want people over you can. i think if he threatens your family like that again something needs to be done immediately. its not like he OWNS THE WHOLE neighborhood. i recommend keeping something close to you if you are home alone(like pepper spray)and if anything feels off or you feel like you are in danger call the authorities
Yeah I'm definitely making sure everything is locked up and managed to get some stuff... and tbh having a guard dog doesn't sound like a bad idea either (been thinking of it)Okay you need to definitely do something I don't think that man is stable mentally.
Firstly, whenever you're home, please just make sure to lock everything and all. Make sure you have something like a pepper spray at all times. And I don't recommend this, but my mom used to sleep with a sharp knife with her in the bedroom when there were a lot of robberies in our neighbourhood.
It honestly, depends on you to make the police report or not. But if you feel like it, just do it. Otherwise, notice him. See if he's too quiet or still nosy. and Take Care and stay safe. :<
Ty <3 Yeah I always cherish the good neighbors. I've never had a problem with any neighbors until now, and it really sucks because they are literally next door. I just hope they don't try to retaliate. Before I finished the first paragraph, I was going to say this. After the second paragraph, I'm doubling down on it. Just be prepared, however, for the possibility of escalation if he gets served with a warrant. Perhaps I watch too much Fear Thy Neighbor, but he sounds unhinged if he's coming around to cause problems whenever you have company or do something he doesn't like.

Sorry you have to deal with this. I will never take "good" neighbors for granted.
