I have to say, at least you've had time to get more memories in. I did not realize how much I would regret not doing with my boy. We had a few indications that something might be going on with him, but nothing that seemed extremely serious. We thought his issues with breathing were due to the heat and his congestive heart failure, but it got so bad we took him to the emergency vet. He wouldn't even let them examine him, so I told them to treat him as if he had an infection and to send us home. Later that day I managed to get a look in his mouth while he was panting and my heart just dropped to my feet. There was a massive tumour taking up nearly the entirety of his soft palate. At that point I basically just called all the family members and told them to spend as much time with him as possible, and that we would keep him as comfortable as possible for as long as we could. He was allowed to do things, eat things he wasn't previously. He got lots of treats, all the CBD, and never spent a moment alone. He slept in my bed while I would watch him, his breathing was just so bad, but he was still happy and bright.
We got four more days out of him. It was absolutely devastating the day we all realized it would be cruel to keep him alive any longer because he was clearly fighting to live just for us. He made that very clear on his way out, the vet didn't even get all the medication in before he passed. It was like someone had flipped a switch and he was just gone. Very lucky in that we have a local funeral home that offers private pet cremation services, they did a wonderful job with him. I miss him so much, but I know I did what was right for him.
omg i have tears in my eyes after reading this, for real

im so sorry for you and the dog, that they had to go through this
im glad they had so much love from you at the end before passing away
it must have been horrible to see this and go through this, i had similar experience with my dog , i told you long ago
but somehow she survived that as they were able to remove the tumor, ugh, i dont know what else to say but
thank you for being an amazing animal lover and taking good care of them
my oldest cat died months ago and she had no one around because i think it happend at night when my father was asleep
he woke up in the morning and she was just gone

she almost was 17

i tried to save her few months before it happened but nobody listened to me, nobody saw something was wrong with her except me
she was struggling with her feet, her throat etc
even the fkin vet thought she was fine
but i clearly saw shit goin wrong

ugh
i hope my young cat, chester, who is going to 2 year mark in couple months
