whipped cream is essential if you want to make the perfect hot chocolate but apparently some people pride themselves in doing the absolute bare minimum under the guise of "pure" hot chocolate supremacy, do they have no shame?
the gentle sweetness of the whipped cream balances out the slight bitterness of the cocoa while also adding some nice fluff, therefore the whipped cream fulfills an important purpose which is to improve the overall hot chocolate experience
of course there is also no shame in making hot chocolate as an excuse to consume unholy amounts of whipped cream

here in my country (n around the region, tho maybe only a few countries) there's a drink called Milo:

its ubiquitous n served with either condensed milk or added sugar but not whipped cream. until starbucks n other coffee chains started opening here, hot chocolate wasnt as common as in western countries i think. even now its not the drink tat a lot of ppl choose either at home or outside. tat said i do like hot chocolate at some coffee chains or cafes, cos iv stopped drinking coffee n prefer not to drink the tea served at most of the places tat dont hv good milk tea. no whipped cream for me tho.
