A lot of idols have young fans and lying about surgical procedures can have a negative impact on those young fans.

I personally dont care but I really really hate it when ppl point it out, I get there are some ppl that genuinely dont have a problem with it and are just interested in what work an idol has had done but at the same time you KNOW someone is gonna use that to bash the idol in some way or another and often times people will make out that they dont care but in reality their 'nice' or 'neutral' comments are extremely back handed.

Hmm personally I don't really think it's an issue if they lie about it if they were like questioned for example. If they were being all like 'look im so pretty and all natural' then THAT would be another thing but knowing the kind of hate people are gonna send them regardless of SK's culture being a bit more accepting than other cultures regarding plastic surgery, I think they have every right to lie about it if they've been questioned on it as an attempt to protect themselves from those kinds of comments. I also don't think it's their responsibility to manage their young fans' view of what the beauty standard is, even if those young kids weren't their fans they would source these unrealistic beauty standards from somewhere else anyway. I think rather than blaming the idols and celebrities for caving and trying to adhere to these unrealistic beauty standards, I think people should focus their energy more on breaking down the beauty standards in question. If you really think about it, these idols were once these young kids too seeing all these 'perfect' idols and celebrities paraded around for fitting the mold and felt the pressure to fit in especially as if their dreams came true they knew they would be under the public eye at all times. I'll say again it's a very different topic if the idol in question is parading their own beauty around while claiming it to be natural as that is very much just contributing to the problem of setting too high a beauty standard but I fail to see how the majority of idols who only caved into the pressure are contributing to a problem that was already deeply set into the society and I think putting blame on these idols for these issues is just doing a lot more harm than it is fixing anything.

As a public figure, they have to consider what type of message they portray when they choose not to be honest and lie. Younger people are very impressionable and ngl, lying about cosmetic surgery affects the self-esteem of the public too because it promotes those toxic beauty standards we see in kpop today and body dysmorphia as well. I can see that, but I feel like these idols are all still just victims of the same system, so I feel like people's energy would be better spent trying to break that down and embracing all different kinds of beauty so celebrities and people alike don't feel the need to have to change to fit in to a specific ideal of beauty anymore. I prolly wan't very good with my wording but it's not that I think idols are completely blameless for perpetuating the unrealistic beauty standard but there's no use blaming them when at the end of the day they were also the young impressionable kids learning to hate themselves for not fitting the ideal. I feel like going in circles accusing idols of PS and blaming them for setting unrealistic standards when they deny them isn't really going to help anyone in the long run at all and I just worry how it could further affect those idols' mental health.
