Christmas was coming up. And it was no secret that Lexi was excited.
She had always enjoyed spending time with family, eating lots of lasagna and oranges, receiving gifts, and her favourite festivity- secret Santa! This year, she was unsure of who her gifter was, but she was ecstatic at the prospect of getting a specially made gift.
The curiosity was killing them!
As Lexi was serving herself a big bowl of scorching hot spicy ramen and wondering about gifts she should give her friends, a loud BOOM! echoed in her small kitchen. Startled, she dropped her bowl of ramen!
Spewing profanity and stepping over the mess of noodles, they made their way over to the living room- the source of the noise. As she looked around, huffing and puffing about the disturbance- a loud knock from the inside of her fireplace nearly made her jump out of her skin!
Stalking over cautiously, she grabbed a nearby candlestick and brandished it as a weapon, all while slowly approaching the fireplace.
As another loud BOOM! echoed, Lexi called out⁚ “Who's there!?‟
...Silence...
As Lexi stepped closer to the fireplace, ready to call out again- a final BOOM! broke open the top of the fireplace, and in a hurdle of bricks and cement out came tumbling a large thing.
Oh.. not a thing.. a..a... person!
Lexi, who was nearly sent into cardiac arrest out of pure fear and adrenaline, raised her candlestick, ready to bash the crouching figure over the head- when suddenly the person shot upwards and knocked the improvised weapon free from Lexis grasp.
Shaken from her rage, Lexi finally got a good look at the violent intruder. The woman, tall and thin, was wrapped in a black cloak and had an old leather rucksack clutched to her chest. A large, haughty smile had formed on the girl's face, and she was glowing with happiness, all to Lexis discontent.
“Who.. who are you..? What are you doing in my house?!‟ Lexi shouted, scurrying away from the potentially dangerous intruder.
“I'm your magic secret Santa!‟ the women proclaimed, jumping from excitement.
“..A what?‟ now, Lexis anger was replaced with confusion.
The women must have noticed their shock, as she laughed and reached into her raggedy rucksack.
“I got you a gift!.. I don't do secret Santa every year, but I decided to give someone a little Christmas spirit!!‟ the woman rambled, now handing Lexi her gift. It was a small, neatly wrapped package.
Lexi looked from the frau to the gift, then back at the frau.
“Really..? I just... wasn't expecting something like.. this‟ Lexi proclaimed, gesturing wildly.
The woman laughed and bounced on her heels, still forcing the gift into Lexis's hands.
“Then I got the element of surprise!‟
The now stable Lexi slowly took the gift, looking at the bright red wrapping paper and black bow which encased the small box. Attached to the bow, was a small note. Loopy and messy writing brandished the single two words- from Piri :)
When Lexi looked back up from her inspection of the gift, ready to properly thank Piri and possibly invite her for a bowl of ramen- she realized the woman was gone. No trace of the Christmas witch was present. The only thing that proved of her previous presence was the gift, and the broken chimney- but.. wait! The chimney was fixed!
Spinning around wildly, Lexi was shocked to see that the spilt bowl of ramen was cleaned up and stood proudly on her dinner table.
Unsteady on her feet and rushing with confusion and happiness, Lexi sat down on her green velvet couch and looked around again.
That was unexpected.. but not.. bad.
A slow smile spread on their face and they unwrapped the black bow, letting it fall to the ground as they unwrapped the present. Inside it rested a customized carrd! A surprised gasp escaped Lexis's mouth as her eyes widened in excitement.
She didn't know the witch would be this considerate!
Clutching the gift to her chest, Lexi silently thanked Piri and wished them a merry Christmas.
That night, after their spicy bowl of ramen, was eaten and a large cup of hot chocolate was dark, Lexi laid down in her bed and observed the gift. She truly went through a rollercoaster of emotions today, but they couldn't say that they disliked it. It was.. refreshing, to say the least.
They fell asleep as soon as their head hit the soft pillow, but little to Lexis's knowledge, Piri was still peeking through the window. An award-winning smile spread on the witch's face, as she took off into the snowy night, ready to deliver her next gift...
