WHAT KIND OF FORUM STAFF RANKS ARE THE BEST TO IMPLANT AT THE VERY BEGINNING?
because i'm not sure if making up like 6 different types of staff teams is the best choice for forums in general, let alone at the opening of a forum.

1.What type of staff ranks do you think are the most logic and attractive for people wanting to join in?

standards who will always be needed are obviously the ''admin and moderator'' ones
2. but like .... would you guys think its silly to go with ''staff team'' for all together except for admin
and then later on divide the ''staff team'' in to few seperate teams if need be?

3. also, junior moderator..... what types of ''powers'' should they have compared to ''moderators''?

SHARE YOUR OPINION AND AS A THANK YOU, LISA WILL MASSAGE YOU, OR SOMETHIN

I mean, i guess I can put some of my input in as a staff member, but this is only my opinion and not exactly how KS was created tbh

1.What type of staff ranks do you think are the most logic and attractive for people wanting to join in?
Most Attractive: either Graphics or Awards
Most logical: any staff team

the way you wanna go about it with your own forum would be to get these teams in this order: admin/tech -> mod -> graphics -> events/awards -> everything else, mainly since you need those first few teams to even make your forum workable

2. but like .... would you guys think its silly to go with ''staff team'' for all together except for admin and then later on divide the ''staff team'' in to few seperate teams if need be?
Yes, it is silly, and that's because of several reasons:
1. each staff team is in need of a specific skill set, and therefore, there is no reason to mingle these people into one big group
2. joining staff would become more unappealing as people who are interested in graphics are not interested in hosting events which just creates either lousy outcomes or stressful environments
3. you would prefer certain staff members to do one job over another anyways so why not just divide them right away?
4. if you separate them from the beginning, you can see what each team will need in much better specifics rather than juggling one huge group

3. also, junior moderator..... what types of ''powers'' should they have compared to ''moderators''?
you don't need junior mods imo, what's the point of having a moderator if they can't have the proper tools to fulfill all tasks? If the concern of abuse of power comes into play, then that's the admin's job to resolve tbh
i think that trial periods should only be applied to jobs in which the work is rather extensive or more difficult than seen on the outside

Mods and awards are the teams that I've seen the most interest in. Whether people apply or not is a different story. Some feel they may not be good enough or a busy schedule might hinder their performance so they opt out of applying.

2. but like .... would you guys think its silly to go with ''staff team'' for all together except for admin

Each team has its own set of skills. Like me personally, I have zero graphics skills but conflict resolution is right up my alley.

also, junior moderator..... what types of ''powers'' should they have compared to ''moderators''?
We don't have junior moderators anymore to my knowledge. If a mod, no matter how new they are, can't do their job with the proper tools, they aren't really effective imo

@Winter_Iz @Panda
thanks for replying

question;
am i wrong for feeling like you two have replied with a kpop forum perspective in mind only?
if so, are you two familiar with non kpop forums?

i know for a fact a lot of other type forums don't do what we often see on kpop forums
and i was hoping for a more general view on things but its ok if you guys only used to kpop forums and how they do it

i mean, i been on forums for like 15 years now and before i got into kpop and was active on other type of forums
i never saw this what we have here

@Panda and i get what you are saying with teams
but on the other hand, why do you think all staff together in 1 team can't divide tasks? behind the scenes there is no difference, its just that every one then gets the same rank visually
or is getting different staff ranks exciting or something? :lucastwerk:
i was thinkin like.... inclusion... doesn't that apply more when you all on the same team:ilovebread::jenniesmug:

I think the structure depends on how big the forum is. Remembering the forum I was on for like 3 years, we only had 3 mods and 1 admin. Admin used to have the final vote vote on everything. There was no graphic team as it was a job of one of the mods. I feel for smaller forums it is not necessary to have separate teams for every single thing like we do here.. It is mot like KS is such a big forum anyway but it depends on you.
I d go for a few mods who clearly know their duties and are good at communicating and heing unbiased rather than trying to manage several teams.

I’ve only ever been on kpop forums. But three years on kpop forums has taught me a lot. And it really all depends on the dynamics of the forum too: some are friendly and ranks are just there for people to do their jobs but it doesn’t play a huge role in who they are as a person and are just one big family. Whole others is like a hierarchy and competition. Only the elite, and barely interact with users. It also depends on how much effort the staff and users put in. I’ve seen forums crash and burn

there is actually :haylul: it's easier to divide tasks between smaller groups of people than one bigger one, knowing that every of these smaller groups has one specific task to do. otherwise it would be difficult to keep up with who's doing what, imagine if 15 users joined staff without specifying what exactly they want to do and suddenly everyone wants to host events but no one's left to do graphics for example. as someone who's (currently) only in 1 team i like the way things are because as much as i love making my banners i couldn't do a gif badge like awards team do if my life depended on it so i'm happy no one expects that from me.

it is nice to know what is expected from you and if the focus for you is just on one thing
but i do think that if all are in one team, tasks can be switched up more easily and if people wanna do more than just 1 thing, they may not feel ''restricted'' so to speak

its like how ''real life'' shops sometimes want ''allround staff'' or whatever its called in english
just one big team with people who can and want to do multiple things if needed and if they can't do something, they can always learn and ask for help to get better at it :lucastwerk:

what do you mean by elite?
and yes effort from staff is essential , if that is not happening, it all goes down real fast

for now i think there are enough people in each team that tasks never had to be switched up outside of each team and if people want to do more than one thing they can always apply to join more than one team, so that both existing staff members and users who aren't staff yet both have a fair chance to join :sanapray:

The better than everyone else attitude, using the title to their advantage and not always in a good way

maybe, but even staff on KS are actually part of several teams too, like me who is events lead and mod, no matter how you view it, having it separately just gives more organization to the whole system
