TIL (or close enuf) wat is etymological fallacy, cos i was trying to describe how ppl wrongly use decimate(ok it was different words with different meanings) instead of destroy, massacre or annihilate <cos they think it sounds cooler, makes em seem more intelligent/smarter> but instead i learned im wrong n i shd just roll with it.

so same, stan means watever kpop fans(or ifans/watevs) want it to mean, as long as thete's a broad consensus.

PS the word i was trying to lock the original meaning was Shanghaied (verb/noun?)-who knows its meaning already without google-ing it?

i can tolerate it if you say you use a less strong definition than i do. according to some people i would be classified as a stan of txt and onlyoneof too, while i say i only stan bts

but if you say you stan 70 groups, thats just plain nonsense. no you dont. it is physically impossible to keep up with that, and the people who say that dont even know the names of all the members. which anyone would agree is a logical requirement to call yourself a fan of something.

either they're being sincere(or think they are): as ur a senior kpop stan (anyeonghaseyo sunbae jimimis), it might behoove u to accept n tolerate newer fans' quirks(or you'll find urself yelling at ppl younger than u to get off ur lawn well b4 u hit age 20 or even 19, LOL.
