TV Rant: K Dramas are 95% filler (1 Viewer)

I've come to realize that K Dramas are just like anime. 95% filler. Every show should end with 8 episodes at most.

Example: I just watched the first episode of Backstreet Rookie and while I mostly enjoyed it I'm already dreading trying finish this thing because what in the actual hell could justify this show about a guy and a girl working at a convenience store needing to be 16 damn episodes?

16 episodes??? Of what exactly?? I'll tell you what. 16 episodes of cliche K Drama "will they won't they" get together melodrama with even more cliche "flashback scenes" and "daydream scenes" to pad out the runtime.

Jesus Christ is there any originality left in this whole country? And I thought k pop was bad.

The thing is though I enjoy some of this repeated over and over again tropes but what I don't like I could easily swallow if it was only 8 episodes long.

I bet I could watch the first 7 episodes of any k drama and then skip to episode 16 and have a pretty good idea of what's going on.

Oh well. Why am I even complaining? I'm only here for the beautiful actresses anyway.

agree, that is why I am reluctant to start anything over 10 episodes. you just KNOW there will be pointless moments despite the drama being relatively good. it´s time consuming and makes you hate yourself.

hah, saying that you could watch the first seven and then just skip to the last one ... that is what I did with crash landing on you :D

this!! iv only watched kdramas with beautiful actresses i like(exception might be sky castle, only watched cos of taeyeon dooing her homage/pastiche/parody(?).

i hv given up on some kdramas cos the 1st/early episodes werrent enuf despite pretty actresses in them(or maybe my tolerance/liking wasnt high enuf). also i thot of another Squid Game, cos i wanted to see/know wat all the fuss was about. it was worth it!!

I'm glad someone agrees. I want to really love these shows but they try my patience more than anything.

Watching cause of your favorite actors is really the o ly way to go with k dramas. Cause let's be honest. No one is here for amazing stories (seeing as how they rarely have any).

Dramas and kpop are identical. Who cares if my faves released bad music? As long as they stay pretty they will get my hard earned money. Who cares if my fave actress starred in a bad drama? As long as she stays pretty I'll tune in for every episode.

iv watched series with Krystal, Yuri, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Eunji+Sunhwa(Secret): purely cos they were my faves/pretty idols, i also started but hvnt continued series with Nana, Sooyoung n a few others(but i think i hardly watch much kdramas compared to western/english shows tho), also a few other asian; non korean shows. cant recall titles offhand.

i only watched Fashion King (movie with Sulli, not tv show with yuri snsd) waaày bk in 2018, without knowing much abt Sulli.

it was from random google/internet search for k-movie/series after watching another kdrama, queen of mystery 1 n 2. tat had lee dahee but in supportingrole.

still hvnt felt like watching krystal in her drama with rain. to the beautiful you seems like sthg id be interested in tho.let me just find enuf time n ill watch it.

i wish it was just 15 seasons, it just got renewed for a 19th

with like one or two members of the original cast still left. i don't watch it anymore because it's a waste of time and the most realistic medical aspect of this show is the fact that it's literally on life support right now.

19 seasons????? This has to be the second longest running show ever after The Simpsons.

I agree with this I watch kdramas quite often, and tend to drop anything once I find it boring or too much filler
that's why I only end up finishing a few and those are my favourites usually
but apart from some fave english shows the reason I stopped going for english language shows was for this exact problem + too many seasons
it depends on pacing I remember last year one of my faves was hometown cha which was a chill romcom drama
every episode was paced so well and I fell in love with all the characters
