[eclipsoul]

yay we got a thread for this! finally i can share all the thoughts i have

i'm rooting for a king richard SWEEP with everything in me. loved the movie, wonderful performances so even if it's unlikely to get the picture and screenplay i really hope will smith and aunjanue ellis get their deserved awards. the fact that they nominated free guy but not the matrix resurrections (this might be a bit biased since it was my favourite movie of the year) for visual effects made me laugh out loud like i cannot believe i'm actually seeing this. like i'd understand if they chose the suicide squad... but free guy? same goes for the "don't look up" best picture nomination, i thought i was the only one who straight up hated that movie but it has a 56 on rotten tomatoes, 49 on metacritic - how come it got in yet the green knight, the last duel or tick tick boom did not?

this is probably a very unpopular opinion but i'm so glad house of gucci did not get as many nominations as i thought it would - gaga's performance was good but the movie felt very bland to me and was probably my biggest disappointment of the year. also they nominated my least favourite song from encanto so i better see academy award winner beyoncé

i want to see belfast so bad (and get an answer for my question why they'd nominate judi dench for that movie and not caitriona) but it's only coming out here in over two weeks smh
