i'm probably making a big deal out of it but it's honestly so nerve wracking cause i've always imagined of how it would feel seeing them irl and now that it could actually happen...
they've been such a great source of comfort for me and it just feels so unreal. i feel like i would break down

Yeah, that's totally understandable. It would be incredibly nerve wracking.. I mean, you could always wait until you feel like you're ready? Or maybe try and do things that would make it less worrisome?
