as eurovision just ended and ks has a lot of people who enjoy both ESC and kpop, i thought i'd compile all kpop songs i've heard that sound like they could be eurovision entries - including also what kind of result i'd see for them if they were actually competing. thought it would be fun

volume up by 4minute - if it was sent somewhere in the mid 2010s and had a staging which aesthetically matches this music video, this song would be norway 2009 level of record breaking success. everyone would be turning the volume up the moment they come in no pun intended


play by yuju - this is something that hasn't left my mind since i heard play for the first time, it just gives me the vibes of that one song no one thinks could do well but once the jury votes come in - it never leaves the first place on the scoreboard and does decently well in general even though it seems underappreciated before the competition.


love me or leave me by day6 - you know how there is always one enjoyable rock-sounding song each year that everyone likes? this is it. this would be the song. might not be the favourite to win but with some 8's and 10's there and there it could easily get top 5.


heroine by sunmi - as much as i love this song, it gives me a bit of a "surprise NQ" vibes. something that everyone generally appreciates and thinks should do well but gets a bit ruined by the running order and a possibly forgettable staging to the point it gets stuck on the cursed 11th place in the semi final


itaewon freedom by uv feat. jyp - something that people firstly do not take too seriously like the serhat dude from san marino but then it pulls off a result like moldova 2018 because everyone realises it is actually very fun (and unironically liking a jyp song is not something i am proud of)


make me love you by taeyeon - every year (well, most of them) has that one song that isn't exactly the most upbeat one there is but not a snoozefest either with a phenomenal vocalist on top of it where it's expected to reach the top 3 all the way since it has been chosen to compete and no song fits this description than this


roller coaster by chungha - that one big 5 entry which everyone loves before the competition, its result might not be equal to the appreciation it was given but the radio stations pick it up and play it for a long time after eurovision ends.
