I used to do these more often (and to be honest I keep thinking about picking it back up....), but I used to do horse photo manipulations. The horse isn't actually part of the original picture - the horse and the background are two different images (sometimes the background is made up of more than one image as well) and elements added in. I'd draw the manes and tails, too, and at times (like in water images) I'd add in the reflections or splashes with a combination of custom brushes and painting on my tablet.

this one is kind of special (even though I hate how I colored the whole thing and the shadows are completely off) because the background scenery was a photo I personally took on a trip to visit my sister while her husband was stationed in Montana
