BPink Lisa’s Cambodian heritage (1 Viewer)

I was told by a Thai person that it’s well known among Thais that Lisa came from an area where ethnic Cambodians live. Lisa identifies as Thai but for obvious reasons she can’t bring up her ancestral heritage. Thailand took over areas that historically belonged to Cambodia. Unlike the West where people are open with their ancestry and are happy to mention they are 1/16 Native American.
Do Cambodians also feel pride in Lisa’s accomplishments?

idk how much truth there is to that but for the sake of this thread let's say it is, it doesnt matter. if lisa identifies as thai rather than cambodian despite her heritage then i dont think it's our place to nitpick or school her. ethnicity and heritage can overlap, it doesnt mean they have to

Which is perfectly legitimate, as many indigenous people identify with the nationality that absorbed their ancestral ethnicity. That’s how they got to 1 billion Chinese. Yet it’s not right to scrub away historical reality anymore than it is to appropriate culture.
