I've tried making this thread three times but I always stop and delete what I typed because I'm not doing a good job expressing what I'm trying to say.

So I give up. And I'll just say I have so many issues with what I've seen from this group so far that I can't get into it. I just don't feel like typing a million words on my phone screen.

I’m loving what I have heard so far.

As for why you might not be clicking with them, while they are getting a lot of comparisons with f(x) because of Min Heejin’s influence, and there are certainly similarities with 4 walls era f(x), they are missing that other side of pure SM weirdness that f(x) had (strange lyrics, quirky beats, far out visual concepts). If it’s those elements of f(x) that you loved I would recommend Aespa for you.

I've always got the impression that f(x) was secretly Heejins favorite group she ever worked with so I understand why NewJeans are getting compared to f(x) a lot right now.

Debuting minors isn't new to today for sure but it's still frustrating companies continue doing it (obviously for money). The industry is harsh and harmful for adults, it's worse for a teenager. Plus on top of that, people sexualizing them. Nasty!

True its always been a thing in kpop. Even my ultimate group had the issue with Krystal debuting at 14 and Sulli at 15. But it just seems to have gotten out of control in the last few years. Companies seem to be going out of their way to make sure the oldest member of a group is 18 aka barely legal while the rest of the group is in Middle School.

These companies can do whatever they want. It's their money. But I find it hard to believe they cant find even more talented 21 to 24 year olds to debut in their groups.

Jihyo was cast at the age 8, it's a known fact, and Min from MissA which is an even older group was cast in 6th grade. Majority of SNSD members were cast younger than that age. I know this girl on youtube who is quite famous, once she was a senior in high school she said it's considered very late for her to become a trainee now. Being cast at 18 is like... a miracle. It barely happens and if it does, you need to have the visuals to hard-carry, like Irene's case.

I like their lowkey early RV 1.0-esque vibes (ie. Happiness era). Besides that nothing in particular that's exceptional but overall they seem slightly interesting today's GG environment

True. I'm not a fan (at the moment) but they are a breath of fresh air.

I kinda agree. They are very young . I liked their songs a little at first I guess , gave their songs a listen a few more times but fades away. Although , I see potential in them. Ehhh .. you wear new jeans that take a while to get comfortable .
