but this also goes to obsessive behaviours towards public figures in general. you'd be surprised how many people are out there making fucking powerpoint presentations about how taylor swift's entire private life is a PR stunt as if she's a fictional character they can theorize about.

Ugh, SAME! I will never shut up about the time 5 Seconds of Summer barely (and I do mean BARELY) avoided getting canceled back in 2019. This girl Sophia filed a claim against Michael (he's the guitarist, for those who aren't familiar), that he SA'd her at a 5SOS concert. The rumors were all over Twitter like white on rice. People were calling them out left and right, and some even went as far as to unstan them. In fact, the guys even went on hiatus for a few months because of all this - it wasn't pretty at all. It wasn't until months after the rumors started that Sophia came forward. She'd lied about the whole thing for clout. Obviously, this has a happy ending bc they're releasing their fifth studio album next month, but as an actually SA victim, it hit way too close to home for me.
