My Mum is now allowed to leave hospital (1 Viewer)

Mum had surgery last Thursday morning, and now on Tuesday evening, she’s collected her medication and we’re now in a taxi home.

Also shout out to the tea lady who’s kept me hydrated whilst we waited for said medication.

She’s on complete bedrest for the next six weeks, but we were told she has dissolvable stitches, which is a whole lot better than the staples she had last time. We have a KFC bucket on the way because she hated the food there

Why was she having surgery and and for what.

She had emergency surgery to remove a hernia. A scan and some blood tests showed the hernia was stuck to her bowel and obstructing blood flow. The surgeon ended up having to cut into her bowel, removing the hernia, then stitch her bowel back together again. If they’d left her as she was, she could’ve lost her bowel entirely.

Thank you! We waited over five hours for her medication, so neither of us had eaten much, so the KFC was very much

She can go to the bathroom normally, luckily the surgeons didn’t end up needing to remove any of her bowel.

She was on morphine and IV drips until yesterday, and had a drain too to get out anything that could’ve caused an infection. She’s still fairly sore but she’s happy to be back home
