In The Netherlands not so much. We only hang them outside when it's Remembrance day and Liberation day. Or when something terribly happened. A lot of people hung the Ukrainian flag outside here because of the war.
Also when someone graduates from school here, they hang the Dutch flag outside with their backpack.

in my part of the country, they feel more attached to the province than to the country so very few country flags. when i went to another province, there was not many flags in the city but in rural areas every house had them. i had never seen something like this before. there was also some USA flags even though we are not in the USA...

belgium no, but my homeland to an extent i guess. i wouldnt say its an obsession actually, its more like pride in our flag because it's such an important symbol of our history and our identity

i'd agree. while the hyper-nationalists keep being themselves, they also have other national symbols they obsess over. the flag is cool, but it isn't in your face everywhere you go (unlike the usa i hear)

at first i would have said yes but there in the end arent many finnish flags up all times. We raise the flag during some national celebration type of days. And i actually like the tradition to raise the flag half way when someone dies. Not everyone does that (mostly cause there arent flag poles around a lot) but if apartment building has a flag pole they do it
