I don’t agree. It’s really common for people to have a second name, for example an Asian person with an “English name”. Lots of Kpop idols take on a western name as their stage name. Are you including all these people in your critique?

Which is why I think it’s a bad take. Yes, you might find it cringy when a westerner takes on a Hispanic or Japanese name for example, but there are so many instances globally where it is a perfectly normal thing to do, or even a necessity.

And what about when it’s not a necessity but is still a normal thing to do, like a Korean person choosing an English name to go by?
