Do you have international friends in real life? Did you visit another country and still keep in touch with someone you met there? Or a foreigner visited your country? What is their nationality?

I have a lot of international friends, I met people from different countries and I still chat with them from time to time. It's interesting to share cultures and all.

I really don't. I used to have a good German friend (thanks internet) but I fell out of touch with her.

Only online, I haven't personally met anyone from a foreign country (well I have but we don't keep in touch lol).

Both of my best friends are from Finland.

I have a few Japanese & Korean friends.

Oh and my wife is Japanese as well (if that counts) lol

Yes I have a few American friends thanks to this forum. I have a French friend that I’ve met years ago. And she came visit me two times, she’ll be here again in a few weeks and she wants to immigrate here. I’m fact, her own brother just moved here with his girlfriend 2 weeks ago.

but theres my dutch/turkish close friend from the Netherlands, we've been friends almost 5 years and see each At least 1-3 times a year. He coming over next week actually which should be fun.

Most of my good international friendships are just internet based and I haven't actually met them IRL.

I have made some international friendships IRL though, but it's pretty much just with exchange students and they have mostly ended when they left Finland. I don't think those were that deep one's, mostly just hanging around a bit, showing them around the town and giving advice, meeting up and chatting once a while. Interestingly enough it's mostly with Chinese exchange student too, maybe cause there is tons of them in my uni (and maybe cause they are open to talk to people other than exchange students, sadly most exchange student just hang out with other exchange students and not with FInnish students at all, and I think university promotes that cause they have separate parties for exchange students. Anyways, all my international friends have now left the country and I don't really have money to travel so I don't think I will be seeing them anymore, still it was fun to hang around ^^

I think its normal (from what I've seen) for people to build friendships online, its just for me its not really possible if we've never met (although even meeting it still can be difficult to view someone as a friend), I cant process emotions through text (i notice them just dont feel them )and I generally just don't connect with people in text form (this goes for my friends I have irl too but I can counter act that by seeing them in person) hence I can't really consider online people as friends really.
Im mainly a face to face conversation sort of person. The only way in fact that me and my Dutch friend became friends properly besides talking on skype voice and cam chats fot like 6 months almost everyday was us meeting and it being the same as if were skyping, 100% honesty either side with our personalities really, which is lucky for us
as very often people withhold certain things of their personalities or pretend to be who they want to be rather than who they are.
I like seeing the whole picture of someone rather than snippets I suppose.
