The socially acceptable distance to hold a door open is if they're only a couple steps away. NOT TWELVE FEET!!! I've never been more embarrassed in my life. What was she thinking?

I think they get confused and then it's too embarrassing to look back, lock eyes with someone, and then just keep walking in. Not me though, idc I'll shut the door in someone's face

She was probably thinking, "Girl, I got you. I have 10 extra seconds to spare. I don't mind holding it for you."

I felt the same way when someone did that for me several times in the past and I was probably 3 to 5 feet away from the door.
I also felt like I was suddenly being rushed.
