I can’t believe it was 10 years since this super storm hit the mid-Atlantic US. I was just a 19 year old Community College student at the time. I remember losing power for like a day, but the flooding was horrible. It looked an actual river flowing, but my apartment wasn’t affected because I live on the 3rd floor.

I remember the " Frankenstorm " term used to refer this storm. Apparently, it passed through the Caribbean, missing my country, and hitting Jamaica.

I turned 29 4 months ago and I know I’m old

It was horrible. I was lucky that my neighborhood wasn’t affected. What was worse was the city’s two metro stations were badly flooded and it was shut down for months because of the close proximity to the Hudson River.

Ooof I remember this. So many days without power and burned through lots of candles. There were dead fish everywhere. My uncle and I went to a Subway in Secaucus just to charge our phones. We were also the idiots that went to downtown in the middle of its peak. <.<

In some parts of JC, there were multiple areas who had days without power. Where I lived was a day. If I’m not mistaken, the JC Heights wasn’t badly affect (it was the only area who didn’t lose power).

That sucks and at least you and your uncle were alright.

I remember hearing about it, but I was pretty young so I don’t remember it that well, especially because my area wasn’t affected. Seems like quite a storm though.

Edit: reading the article there was some damage in my state. I’m assuming we were just not affected though based on my lack of memory of it.

Hurricane Ian didn’t hit where I lived because I live in the Northeast US. But I have a cousin who recently moved to Florida and he was affected by Hurricane Ian. Luckily my cousin was safe and sound when it happened.

We had a cyclone that hit aus. a while back.
Luckily where I reside there is nothing like that.
