in my law class last year, we did have a couple of debates. we had some non-serious ones at the start of the year but once we started getting more into the curriculum, we did more serious ones on topics like gun laws, abortion, the legal system, religion, etc. it was pretty fun since it was nice to hear everyone's opinions and people were respectful !

yes, i enjoyed arguing with white conservative men if women and lgbt ppl should have the same rights as cis men or not

Yes, and I wanted to suffocate each time someone started their argument with "So, riddle me this" :) but it was a fun time ! Seeing other peoples perspective on polarizing issues/topics was always interesting, and following the rules of debates only made it better

There was only one in my APUSH class in high school. The entire time our teacher was stressed tf out because some of the kids chose to be nazi leaders/dictators/etc and would say unhinged things.

fortunately, we didn't have any kids like that. i honestly can't stand people like that though. they make everything a joke and never know when to be serious

it wasn't much of a debate, more like all stating our opinions on modern day problems but we could still try to make others see our pov and of course i had fun and raised my hand a lot

Frequently I never participated and just took notes tbh. I didn’t mind it very much besides like the first minute or so where everyone is just sitting in a circle and awkwardly staring at each other to figure who starts first.

We'd have debates in sex ed class, but it was mostly just kids screaming on top of each other. lol

Yes, but that was mostly in college, Most of the debates I have been were from my ethics class.
