Why does society find it more acceptable to give second chances to criminals than banned users? (1 Viewer)

I always thought this was strange, society is really against users banned from sites to be able to come back when they get 'permabanned'. And if they try using alt accounts they will just get banned again.

Meanwhile, in the justice system criminals get plea bargain, bail, probation, sentence reductions, and a lot more "get out of jail" cards thanks to progressive justice.

Are banned users considered more dangerous to the fabric of society compared to criminals? In a way criminals serve the purpose of keep the public in check to rely on authority for perceived protection. While banned users don't provide any benefits except aggravate people's feelings.

i mean you're not banned here so i'm not sure what to say. if a user caused a lot of trouble then its understandable that other users are weary of them, but i dont believe anyone should be instantly permabanned for no valid reason
